Cobham Football Tournament

We took a mixed squad of Year 8s and 9s from the ‘Elite Team’ to the Cobham Football Tournament.

With Mr Davies as their coach, the boys played extremely well and managed to get the second best record in the group stages going into the semi-final. After winning the semi-final 2-0, they came up against a strong Chelsea Academy side who took the 1–0 lead early on.

The boys showed great togetherness and fight to get back into the game with Carlos equalising after going around the keeper for his 14th goal of the tournament. Chelsea Academy came back with a well worked goal to give them the lead (2-1). Again, our boys persevered to equalise again with a well worked move down the left with a combination between Omar and Jeffrey, in which Jeffrey cleverly finished to tie the game up at 2 -2. Despite some great saves from Archie, the boys gracefully lost on penalties.

Overall, the boys represented the school exemplary – great behaviour and attitude throughout. Great scenes of togetherness after losing the final and good sportsmanship towards the opposition and referees. There were even comments from the other Chelsea staff about how well they played and how respectful they all were.

Well done boys, we are extremely proud of you!
